About us

Southern African Integration Through Arts exists to allow its members to express their feelings through various forms of performing and visual arts for enjoyment and for participating in educational, informational, interactive and entertainment theatre and visual arts from Southern Africa.  

Objectives

The objectives for which SAITA is established shall be:

  • To offer its members the opportunity to enjoy taking part in all forms of performing and visual arts in both a professional and non professional nature.
  • To produce dramatic works, plays, musicals, concerts, galleries and other forms of performing and visual arts to members of the association, schools, youth centres, organisations and the general public.
  • To strive for a higher level of excellence in its theatrical productions and to support its productions with effective management and the infrastructure of a politically and socially responsible society.
  • To promote the study of musicals, plays and other dramatic works, and to foster and encourage crafts and skills appertaining to the theatre and to the production of plays and musical shows.
  • To publish, disseminate and encourage research and information on African performance and theatre and also provide a platform for scholars and theatre practitioners to meet and exchange ideas, knowledge and information about the Southern African political, economic and social.
  • To raise awareness, advise, provide advocacy, and ambassadorial services in schools, youth centres, colleges, universities and the general public, on the Southern African culture, both performing and visual arts and media.
  • To create a platform for Southern African scholars, theatre practitioners and the local scholars and theatre practitioners to converge and interact at various levels and ways deemed acceptable by SAITA.
